Unleashing Your Creativity: 6 Creative Uses for our Storage Units in Brighton

It can be easy to think of self-storage as something that you only use for house moves or business stock but our storage units in Brighton are multifunctional. People are finding more and more ways in which they can use self-storage facilities in order to make their lives easier and more efficient.

Within our Brighton store, many of our local customers are using our self-storage in Brighton in surprising and inventive ways. Here we are going to tell you about some of the ways our customers are transforming their self-storage units.

Flexible Office Space For Entrepreneurs

Alongside our storage units in Brighton, we also have offices available to rent. Having offices alongside our self-storage allows our business customers to bring their entire business operations over to us. This gives them a space to fully focus on their business whilst allowing them a good work/life balance.

Having a good work/life balance is extremely important, not only for your relationships but for your health and productivity. Having a space in which you can focus on your business but at the end of the day, lock the door and walk away for the evening will make a world of difference.

Rhianne Chin-Keow has found that using one of our office spaces has given her a cost-effective way to run her business and get her home life back.

“I initially went just for a unit, but I explained my needs to the team and they told me about an office which was available and I got it there and then. I knew I was going to be at the unit quite often because I have to dispatch orders every single day. When they said there was an office – there’s heating, electricity, lighting, wifi – it meant I could take all my business operations out of my house and into Cinch. It was just a no-brainer.”

Our offices are all on the same type of flexible rental contracts that we have for our storage units in Brighton so you will also have control over if and when you leave your office space.

They are an excellent way for entrepreneurs in all areas to build their businesses into an empire.

An Artist’s Creative Studio

Artists use our storage units in Brighton as a personal studios. Across all our stores we have had people choosing to use our self-storage to fuel their creative endeavours, whether as a business or as a hobby.

Within one of our first case studies, we chatted with Dawn McNish and Christy Thompson, a mother and daughter team who were at the beginning of setting up their upcycled furniture business. Heading to us in order to find some storage, they found that they would also be able to use the unit as a workshop.

“We went there purely on the basis of finding some storage but the fact that we can use it to work in was great. It’s cost-effective – having the ability to store and work there as well.”

One of our storage units in Brighton could quickly become your perfect artist studio or workshop.

The Fitness Fanatics’ Personal Gym

Our storage units in Brighton could easily be converted into a personal workout space. The units within our Brighton store go up to 150+ sq ft, giving you plenty of room to set up some gym equipment.

You will need to take into account safety measures and equipment compliance before you begin setting it up. One of the most important things will be the flooring as you will need something with much more cushion than a storage unit floor. Gym mats are an excellent solution for your flooring but you will need them in a variety of thicknesses for different activities.

When you begin purchasing equipment you will also need to consider what is safe if you plan on working out alone within your gym. For example, you would not have a spotter when using barbells and plates. There are ways to make them safer to use whilst alone, such as buying bumper plates or racks but these are all things you need to consider before purchasing.

A Collector’s Showcase

Our storage units in Brighton will also make an excellent place for collectors to store and showcase their collections. Using our self-storage will mean that your most precious collections are kept safe and secure. Each of our units is fitted with an intruder alarm, smoke and fire detectors and we have 24/7 CCTV around the entire Brighton facility.

We are happy for you to add any form of shelving to your unit to allow your collection to be displayed in an organised and secure manner.

Bands and Musicians’ Rehearsal Space

Our self-storage has been used by musicians in order to store their musical instruments. Percussionist Daniel Basford uses one of our units in order to store his instrument collection. He has found our extended opening hours most helpful.

“It’s great that there’s access after 6pm because I often need to come back at around 10pm and drop my instruments off. That’s really good.”

At our Brighton store, we also have extended opening hours from 6am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

Along with being a good place to store your instruments, our storage units in Brighton could also be excellent for having band rehearsals. In order to respect your fellow customers and our Brighton team, some soundproofing would need to take place but we are happy for you to do this.

Seasonal Wardrobe Swap-Out Spot

Many people, across all our stores and many other storage facilities, use storage units to store seasonal items. Many homes do not have a great deal of storage space so bringing seasonal clothing, accessories, sporting equipment etc. to a storage unit will give you more space within your home.

When it comes to storing clothing with a storage unit, you will first want to wash and thoroughly dry them. This will remove any dust, dirt or food traces that could attract pests. As your clothes will be in storage for a few months, it is best to store them in plastic boxes over plastic vacuum bags. Keeping clothing in plastic vacuum bags for an extended period of time, particularly those made of natural fibres, can make items lose shape and damage them.
