Running or volunteering for a charity is a noble way to spend your time. Many charities find themselves in need of space for donations or stock that they sell to raise money. Our storage units in Watford will be the ideal space and, here, we will tell you why.

Working for or volunteering with a charity is an excellent way to give back to your community or to the world as a whole. Charities raise money through donations but some also sell items to raise money. Sometimes this is brand new stock or sometimes it is secondhand items donated to charity shops. And then there are some charities who provide items to help people such as hygiene products. All of these charities share a need for a storage space to store these items. Our storage units in Watford are here to help.
Within this article, we will look at how our storage units will be the perfect solution to your charities needs. We will look at what we have on offer in our Watford store and how we are already helping charities, some local, some a little further afield.
Charities We Are Already Helping
As we said above, we have already helped some charities with their storage needs and, within this section, we will talk through how we’ve helped them.
The Date Project
We have provided storage to many charities, including The Date Project. The Date Project is an organisation who sell dates during Ramadan to help multiple charities. The project is entirely volunteer led, from top to bottom, and, in 2025, they had 2,500 volunteers.
From 2015 to 2025, The Date Project had successfully sold 1.2 million date tins, raising over £5.5 million for charitable causes in the UK and around the world.
Zahida Ramzan- Asghar, a volunteer, uses one of our units to store the dates. This is what she had to say about Cinch Storage Watford.
“The space we were given was right by the entrance so it was perfect. The room was the perfect size, with room for the dates and the 5-6 volunteers who were sorting them. There were always 2 or 3 members of the Cinch Storage team present during office hours so if we had any questions or concerns, they were there to support us. Compared to the experience with the other storage company, it was seamless. The team, particularly Natalie and Mitesh, were extremely helpful. Everything was absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t praise it enough. I have fed back to the charity my experience of using Cinch Self Storage as we are a nationwide charity and we use storage quite a bit.”
Waste Not, Want Not
Waste Not, Want Not is a charity who provides furniture and household goods to low income families, people who have been homeless and people who have fled domestic abuse.
This charity was started by people working in a large housing association, citizens advice and social services who all saw first hand how hard some people find it to make a fresh start.
They are a charity who are reliant on donations and they can often ebb and flow. Wanting to be able to keep everything when the donations are flowing, they need to find a secure storage space to store these items. Cinch Storage was able to help. Philip Reade, project manager at the charity, had this to say about our storage:
“Having a storage facility where we can put cookers, fridges etc. means that we always have stock, particularly for someone from Fresh Start who is setting up a home. It was a pleasant surprise to find someone like Andrew who has great empathy for people like our customers. He was happy to help us and we were happy to have him help us. The experience has been excellent. Andrew gave me a guided tour and took me through procedures to gain access and set alarms. It all works very well and is good value all round.”
The Hygiene Bank
The Hygiene Bank is a charity whose mission is to alleviate hygiene poverty. Founded in 2019 by Lizzy Hall, The Hygiene Bank now has projects up and down the country providing hygiene products to the local community, working with community partners such as homeless charities, domestic violence charities, family charities and schools.
Emma Thomas is the volunteer project coordinator for The Hygiene Bank Medway and uses our storage for all the products. This is what she had to say about Cinch Storage:
“I reached out to Cinch Self Storage Gillingham and the team were very keen to support us and see what they could do. They offered us a preferential rate and we moved in. It works perfectly. We probably would have closed if they hadn’t come to our rescue.”
