Ultimate Guide To Self Storage In Southend

When it comes to looking for self storage in Southend, it is good to know what to expect. Here, we offer you the ultimate guide to our Southend storage, from unit sizes to pricing, security to the locations we serve. It is all here.

Southend is one of the most densely populated parts of the UK, outside of London. With homes being a mix of Victorian terraces, Edwardian properties and new build flats, many of its residents will find their homes lacking in storage.

Southend is also a town with a growing e-commerce sector and businesses that only operate seasonally to make the most of the large amounts of tourists who flock to the area. Both these types of businesses would hugely benefit from storage.

As Southend is also home to South Essex College, our student storage will greatly come in handy when it comes to heading home for the long summer holidays.

Our Southend store is located at 53-57 Sutton Road, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 5PB, in the same building as Co-op Southend-on-Sea. We serve the areas of Southend, Prittlewell, Westcliff-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Thorpe Bay and surrounding Essex areas.

Within this guide, we will talk you through unit sizing, pricing, what to look for, how to find us and all the areas we serve. Our Southend facility is 5-star rated on Google and we have 2000+ 5-star Trustpilot reviews like this one from Darren Turner:

“Moving is stressful enough as it is, the Cinch Storage team at Southend were great and made things so much easier. I’d certainly recommend it. Also ask the team to recommend removal firms, the one who was recommended to me was good as gold and affordable.”

Ours is storage that you can trust.

Which Is The Best Storage Unit For Your Needs?

Southend best storage unit for your needs. Image shows internal view of storage unit.

One of the first things you need to think about is the unit that will fit your needs. Storage units come in a variety of sizes, making them useful for a variety of reasons. In the table below you can see what different units can be used for:

  • 15 sq ft (large wardrobe) – 20–30 boxes, seasonal items, sports equipment, surfboards or kayaks
  • 25 sq ft (small shed) – Studio flat contents, small office clearout
  • 50 sq ft (transit van) – 1-bed flat contents, small business inventory, e-commerce stock
  • 75 sq ft (large van) – 2-bed flat contents, tradespeople tools and materials
  • 100 sq ft (single garage) – 3-bed house contents, e-commerce stock, market trader inventory
  • 150+ sq ft (double garage) – 4-bed house, business inventory, pallet storage, seasonal amusement equipment

At our Southend store, our units range from 15 sq ft to 330 sq ft. This is the largest range of units of any storage facility in central Southend.

How Does Storage In Southend Cost?

As Southend is an Essex coastal town, 40 miles east of central London, the pricing of storage is lower than that found in our capital. You would be looking at paying 30-40% less than you would in London.

When it comes to exact pricing there are many factors that need to be taken into account. These include:

  • Unit size
  • The duration of you stay
  • What access hours you need – standard vs extended
  • Whether you take out insurance for your unit

Our Southend team is always on hand to give you a quote for the unit you need. We do offer a price promise in which we will match competitors pricing, if you find a cheaper price. And we offer the first 8 weeks at 50% off.

In order to get the best value storage in Southend, we recommend that you compare price per sq ft, not just total monthly price. You should also make sure to check for admin fees, mandatory insurance charges and minimum stay requirements.

At Cinch Storage, we have no admin fees, no mandatory insurances and no minimum stays. You can leave when you need to. All we need is a short period of notice and you will be refunded for unused days. This is not offered by any of our competitors.

Finding A Secure Self Storage In Southend

Secure self storage in Southend. Image shows an internal corridor view with blue doors to storage units in Southend.

A very important factor when it comes to self storage is that you know it’s safe. There are some things you should check for before signing any contracts. Within this section, we will look at what these are.

Security Checklist

When it comes to security, you should always check for:

  • Monitored 24/7 CCTV surveillance
  • Individual unit intruder alarms
  • Fire and smoke detection systems in every unit
  • PIN code access
  • Well-lit premises with perimeter security

At Cinch Storage Southend, we have all of these security features so you can rest assured that your belongings are safe.

Access Considerations

Having convenient access to your storage is really important. At our Southend store, we have two types of opening hours:

  • Standard hours is when our team are on site
  • Extended access hours is when you can gain access using your pin code

We want our storage to be as convenient as possible for our customers. Having access to our extended hours does come at the request of the customer and the discretion of the store so you will need to speak with the Southend team to gain access to them.

Red Flags To Avoid

As with most things, there are some red flags that you need to avoid when it comes to storage. They are:

  • Long minimum stays
  • Excessive admin fees
  • Mandatory insurance at high rates
  • No refund for unused days
  • Hidden fees for having access outside of standard opening hours

We are happy to say that you will not find any of these red flags at Cinch Storage Southend. We have no minimum stay requirements. Our contracts are completely flexible, allowing you to change your unit or leave your unit at any time. If you want to leave, we just need a short period of notice and you will be refunded for any unused days (please speak to your Southend team for full details).

We have no admin fees and we do offer insurance but it is not mandatory.
