The ultimate guide to furniture Storage

Have you considered furniture storage? Are you an antiques collector? Interior designer? Thinking of letting your home out as an Airbnb? Moving house? Renovating? Downsizing? Upsizing? Re-decorating or decluttering? Then furniture storage is for you!

Short-term and long-term storage

Antiques Collectors

Furniture storage can be used for both short-term and long-term storage. If you are an antiques collector it’s the ideal solution to store all of your stock safely and securely and your storage unit can grow with you as you acquire more stock.

DIY/Renovation projects

Similarly, for your small DIY projects or large-scale renovations you can move the furniture out of your home so that you can carry out the works in the most efficient way. You can also use your storage unit to store any pieces of furniture you have purchased that you want to add in to your new space once the works are complete.

Airbnb/Lettings

Are you new to the Airbnb or letting game? If so, you’ll want to potentially clear out the pieces of furniture that matter to you the most and keep them safe and secure whilst guests and tenants move in. This is where self storage is the ultimate solution – keep your precious pieces safe and secure and access them whenever you need to.

Interior Designers

As an interior designer we know that you will source pieces for your clients, but then won’t be able to move them in to your project until the works have been carried out. Use furniture storage not only to store your client’s pieces that you have sourced, but also store all of your sample books!

Downsizing or Upsizing

Furniture storage, downsizing

Whether you are downsizing or upsizing, storage can be the ideal way in which to either keep your belongings that you don’t want to part with, even if you are downsizing. Or if you’re upsizing, you can house your belongings within your storage unit while you move in to your new and bigger home.

Decluttering

We all need a declutter from time to time or just to create some more space in our homes, sometimes it can be tricky to part with your much-loved items, so acquiring a storage unit for a short-term or long-term storage is the best way to achieve your decluttering process whilst avoiding overwhelm.

What can I store?

When it comes to furniture storage, the world is your oyster, there are small storage units that can fit a chair or warehouse storage units to fit the contents of an entire house and sizes to fit every need inbetween.

You can store any type of furniture! A few examples of what you can store:

  • Sofas
  • Beds
  • Armchairs
  • Mattresses
  • Washing machine
  • Tumble dryer
  • Kitchen appliances
  • Dining table
  • Dining chairs
  • Bookcases and books
  • Wardrobes
  • Office furniture
  • Garden furniture

How to store your furniture tips:

Step 1:

First, wipe down your furniture with warm soapy water and then allow to dry completely before storing

Step 2:

Disassemble your furniture and wrap them in protective materials – our stores have everything you need including removal blankets, dust covers, bubble wrap, boxes and foam corners to ensure your items are kept in pristine condition

Step 3:

Stack your pieces of furniture strategically – heaviest pieces at the bottom, avoid stacking things on top of leather sofas/chairs as this can cause indentations. Leave space around each piece so that the air can circulate. Store pictures and framed mirrors in an upright position and ensure nothing is leaning against them that could cause damage

Step 4:

Make sure to lock your storage unit so your items are kept safe and sound
