2022 marks 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II being in service as Queen. She is the first monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee and the people up and down the country will be celebrating over the Platinum Jubilee Platinum Weekend which takes place from 2nd to 5th June.
Bicester is getting into the Jubilee spirit with lots of events happening across the weekend.

Thursday 2nd June
Bicester Jubilee Music for a Royal Occasion
‘Music for a Royal Occasion’ is a concert at St. Edburg’s Church and hosted by Alina Orchestra, led by Musical Director Hilary Daven Wetton. The concert will feature music by Handel, Elgar, Boyce and Walton.
The concert begins at 7.30pm on Thursday. Tickets are £12 and can be purchased here.
Bicester Jubilee Heritage Beacon Lighting
The lighting ceremony will begin at 9pm with attendees meeting at The Wriggly Monkey Brewery. The ceremony will culminate with the Beacon lighting at 9.45pm. This will coincide with 1500 beacons being simultaneously lit across the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and UK overseas territories.
The event is free but you must register for a ticket to be able to attend. You can register for a ticket here.
Friday 3rd June
Bicester Jubilee Market
Our regular Friday market will go ahead on the 3rd June from 9am to 4pm on Sheep Street.
Saturday 4th June
Bicester Town Council’s Platinum Jubilee
This is a fun-filled day of events organised by the town council. The event will be at Garth Park and begins at 3pm until 9pm, with performers such as the Bicester Military Wives Choir, ECU Cheerleaders and many more.
There will also be community stalls, stilt walkers and face painting!
The event is open to the public and no booking is necessary, so just head to Garth Park for 3pm and have lots of fun!
Sunday 5th June
Bicester Hotel Jubilee Afternoon Tea
Bicester Hotel is holding an Afternoon Tea which will begin at 11.45am on Sunday, with a glass of fizz on arrival. The afternoon will consist of an afternoon tea, served between 12-2pm, with games following from 1-3pm.
Tickets are £12 for children, £20 for adults and you can book them here.
OneBicester’s Big Jubilee Lunch
One of Bicester’s amazing Big Lunch events, organised by OneBicester, is being held on the Sunday to celebrate the Jubilee.
Held as usual on Sheep Street, the Big Lunch will begin at 11am until 5pm and will be a spectacular street party with live entertainment, stalls and activities.

Bicester Jubilee Songs of Praise at St. Edburg’s
A church service to celebrate the Jubilee with hymns that span Queen Elizabeth II 70 year reign. The service will begin at 6pm on Sunday.
