Add artwork

An easy and cheaper way to create a statement is to add some artwork to the walls. You could have a trip to Hobbycraft for some canvases and paints. This will not only be a lot of fun but you would end up with a one of a kind piece of work. 

If you aren’t really into creative endeavours, there are lots of options out there on sites such as Etsy. Many creatives sell prints for extremely reasonable prices so it will be easy to add some character to the walls of your house. 

Let there be light!

A fun way to add character to a place is to add new lighting. They not only add more character but will add more light and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Clear fairy lights are a super cheap and easy way to do this. You could run them around the top of your wall, making them into a feature. Make sure to go for clear though as coloured could make it feel a little Christmassy!

Add some house plants 

Having house plants in your home really brings a home to life and there are many more benefits to having plants within your home. They purify the air and aid concentration and focus. Perfect for your university room! 

Nature is also great for relieving stress and anxiety and if you don’t have easy access to nature, house plants can also help you relax. University can be a really stressful, tense time for many people so having plants to help is a great idea. 

Accessories 

Your sofa may have had to come from a charity shop or Gumtree so it might not be 100% to your taste. A great and cheap way to get around this is to add accessories to it. You could cover it with a blanket and add pillows. 

This works around your entire home and is an easy way to show your personality.
