5 Creative Ways To Reuse Your Moving & Storage Boxes

After you have moved house, you will find yourself absolutely inundated with moving and storage boxes. Of course, you can simply recycle them or pass them on to someone else who is moving but there are many creative ways in which you can reuse boxes. This will not have environmental benefits but you will also gain some personal satisfaction from repurposing a box.

Within this article, we are going to talk about 5 creative ways in which you can reuse your moving and storage boxes.

1. Build Your Own Furniture

This may seem a little far-fetched but we can promise you – you can build furniture from sturdy cardboard boxes. There are many tutorials across the internet and on Youtube, all showing you how you can make lovely, yet extremely cheap and unique furniture from the cardboard boxes you have lying around your house after a house move.

Once the piece of furniture is built, you can add your own personal flair by painting and decorating them to suit your home and personal style.

2. Create Fun and Educational Kids’ Toys

Any and all nineties kids can remember using cardboard boxes or a shoe box to build dolls houses or an amazing fort. In modern day, many kids are constantly glued to iPads. Reusing boxes to build playhouses or forts will allow them to use their imagination.

You could also use them to create toys such as puzzle boxes or shaper sorters. Or you could cut them up and use the flat surfaces as a canvas for painting or drawing. The only limit is your own imagination.

3. Enhance Your Home Decor

Speaking of art, you can reuse boxes in order to make your own unique wall art or to create household items such as picture frames or unique  storage containers.

Creating unique storage containers will be super easy because you are already halfway there with having a box! All you really need to do is paint or decorate it to match your own personal style. This could be a great thing to do with all the family and the kids could create their own toy storage boxes.

4. Organise Your Workspace

You can reuse boxes in order to make your workspace more organised. It can be very easy to make a simple desk organiser with you just needing cardboard at the length and width of how long you’ll want your organiser to be, a glue stick, some tape, a pair of scissors and something to decorate it with.

Once the cardboard is cut to the length and width you want it, you just need to tape the corners and then decorate it how you see fit. Easy peasy!

You could create cable holders in a very similar way in order to keep your workspace organised and tidy.

5. Support Community Initiatives

If you are not the crafty type yourself, you can still reuse your boxes by donating them to your local schools, libraries and community centres. They will be able to use them in order to store items or for art projects. Many libraries and community centres don’t receive a great deal of funding so it would be a great help to them to receive items from you. Make sure to give them a call before you take them though.

You could also start your own community initiative and organise a local upcycling or craft event using cardboard boxes. This will not only be a fun event that brings the community together but it will teach people that you don’t always have to spend a fortune to create something amazing or have a good time.

Innovative Ways To Reuse Storage Boxes

There are so many wonderfully creative ways in which you reuse cardboard boxes. You can make furniture or home decor. You can get the kids using their imagination and building a magical fort or castle. Or you can get organised and make your workspace nice and tidy.

Even if you aren’t crafty yourself, you can donate the boxes to help out a local school, library or community centre with their latest art project.

There is so much that can be done with the simple cardboard box and it will all help the environment and have an amazing impact on your own personal creativity.
