Hove is just ten minutes west from the centre of Brighton but it has a very different vibe. It is Brighton’s quiet, tranquil sister, known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful pebble beaches. It is a resplendent area with acres of Regency-era townhouses, terracotta mansions and beachfront promenades. 

Although the quieter of the two areas, Hove still has many local amenities. From the far end of Western Road and all along Church Road, you’ll find independent shops galore from fashionable boutiques to book shops, from delicatessens to chocolateries. There are eateries of every kind for every type of budget, including cheap and cheerful cafés and award-winning restaurants. Also, there is a pedestrianised area on George Street which is filled with a mix of cafés, pubs, shops and charity shops.

There are also many green spaces and some extremely high performing schools, making Hove perfect for families. There are many properties available to buy in the area and for a house you will be looking at paying £350,000+. 

Kemptown – Bohemian and Diverse

Kemptown is long associated with LGBTQIA+ culture, with rainbow flags adorning many of the bars, cafes, clubs and B&Bs. It is the very heart of Brighton’s famous Pride celebrations, held every summer. Stretching from east of the city centre to Brighton Marina, Kemptown is a place that oozes village charm, community spirit, inclusivity, sustainability and fun. 

The housing options available in Kemptown are just as diverse with you being able to choose from Victorian terraces and modern apartments. Kemptown would be the ideal place to live for any one who enjoys a bohemian, vibrant way of life. 

Seven Dials – A Perfect Balance of City and Suburb

Seven Dials is an attractive hilltop area, just a mile north from the beach. It has the perfect balance of laid-back beach vibes and sophisticated suburban living. Brighton city centre and the beach are easily reachable in a fifteen minute walk and the train station is mere minutes away. 

The residential streets are quiet, leafy and contain beautiful historic buildings. There are many excellent pubs, cafes and shops within the area. It is also home to Britain’s smallest art gallery, The Dog & Bone. Located in two restored London phone boxes, the exhibitions change regularly so there is always something to see. 

Seven Dials is one of Brighton’s smallest neighbourhoods so you will quickly get to know it, meet your fellow residents and become a part of the community.

Hanover – The Colourful Hillside Community

Hanover is an area of Brighton that is filled with colour. It is located on a very steep hill, lined with streets of Victorian cottages, each of which is painted a beautiful, bright colour. 

Like many other areas of Brighton, it has bohemian sensibility and is lovingly nicknamed ‘Muesli Mountain’. It is also home to some excellent pubs such as the award-winning Haus on the Hill and home of an award-winning Sunday Roast, The Geese. 

There is a variety of housing available which makes Hanover popular with students and families alike.
