Tee-Jay Austin began his business, Citywide Drinks, at the end of 2022. With the help of our fantastic Enfield team, his business has gone from strength to strength. Here’s his story: 

Tee-Jay Austin began his business, Citywide Drinks, in November 2022. Citywide Drinks is an e-commerce business which sells a range of alcoholic beverages and accompanying snacks. Wanting his business to cater to everyone, Citywide Drinks stocks a range of products from cheaper brands to limited edition bottles of alcohol. Tee-Jay prides himself on running a business that prioritises consumer safety and excellent customer service. 

Upon starting his business, Tee-Jay ran into a few hurdles. In addition to the alcohol license, he discovered that he would need to get an alcohol premises licence. As an e-commerce business, this proved to be quite challenging. In order to obtain the license, he would first need to find a premises from which he could run his business. 

Tee-Jay began looking into storage companies but found that many of them were unaware of the requirements for an alcohol licence and weren’t willing to help. This all changed upon finding Cinch Self Storage Enfield.

After finding other storage companies unhelpful, Tee-Jay found the exact opposite at Cinch Self Storage Enfield. Andriana and Fatima, two of our Enfield team members, were said to have been extremely helpful to Tee-Jay in starting his business.

Tee-Jay said that the team were proactive in helping him to set up his unit and navigate the complex process of obtaining the alcohol premises license required to operate.

‘I spoke to a few self storage companies and a lot weren’t aware of the licence for alcohol. When I came to Cinch Self Storage, their customer service was great. They were really helpful. I’ve had a lot of roadblocks with the council and they were so helpful and understanding.’

The amount of help the team were able to offer allowed Tee-Jay to overcome these challenges and move forward with establishing his business. 

‘The alcohol business can be very challenging when you are having to deal with the council, especially when it comes to premises licences. It was good to find a business like Cinch Self Storage who were willing to help. Without Andriana and Fatima, I would have probably given up trying to get the licence.’

Networking opportunities

To further support Tee-Jay in developing his business, our team introduced him to a fellow business owner who also runs their business from our Enfield store. 

‘They even introduced me to another guy who has a business at Cinch Self Storage as well. We’ve got to talk and we are now going to have a meeting. They (the Enfield team) are so helpful and it made me comfortable doing what I’m doing.’

The perfect unit 

As Tee-Jay was just starting out with Citywide Drinks, he did not need a large unit and, with an already large overhead, he did not need another large expense. At our Enfield storage he found the perfect unit at a reasonable price. 

‘Because I was just starting out, I didn’t need a big storage unit. Plus, I had such a high overhead. Cinch Self Storage has a perfect sized unit that I could start with. It was a reasonable price and it’s in the local area.’

Tee-Jay now stores his stock and distributes his online orders from one of our 35 square-feet units, fitting his needs perfectly. 

Onwards and upwards

Citywide Drinks has grown a great deal in a short passage of time. Looking forward, Tee-Jay is currently working on establishing relationships directly with brands so that he can offer even greater value directly to the customer. He also plans to offer delivery within the local area.
